Explanation:
We offer a range of developer documentation to assist with integrating Afterpay with WooCommerce. If further support is required, we recommend consulting your web developer for assistance. Below are the steps to install and configure the Afterpay plugin for WooCommerce.
Action:
There are a few prerequisites to be followed before installing and configuring the Afterpay plugin to ensure a smooth set up:
WordPress Version:
The WordPress version must be 4.8.3 or greater to integrate with Afterpay.
- To find the WordPress version number, look at the bottom right corner of the WordPress Admin Dashboard.
WooCommerce Version:
The WooCommerce version must be 3.2.6 or greater to integrate with Afterpay. To find the WooCommerce version number:
- Navigate to WordPress Admin > Plugins > Installed Plugins.
Store Currency:
Please note that Store Currency must correspond to the Afterpay account region. To check this:
- Navigate to: WordPress Admin > WooCommerce > Settings > General.
- Under Currency options, the currency must be AUD
Once the prerequisites are set up correctly, install the Afterpay plugin via Plugins > Add New under the Wordpress Admin Dashboard.
The next step is to configure the plugin to add the payment method and messaging to the product and cart pages.
When configuring the payment option, please make sure the correct credentials are used and the API environment is set to Production.
These credentials can be located in the Afterpay Merchant Hub, under Settings, when logged in as the Hub Admin.
A common error encountered when due to misconfiguration is the API error 401:
If an HTTP 401 API Error is being experienced, please check the following settings:
- Merchant ID and Secret Key for the Afterpay account in the Afterpay plugin settings.
- WooCommerce Store Currency matches the Afterpay account region (AUD = Afterpay AU) - If there is a mismatch between the Afterpay account region and the store currency, the Merchant ID and Secret Key will not authenticate for the correct Afterpay region.
