The Cash App Afterpay API uses standard HTTP status codes to indicate the success or failure of API requests:

  • 200-299: The request was processed successfully.
  • 400-499: The request was not valid (e.g., a required parameter was missing).
  • 500-599: The request could not be processed due to an unexpected server-side issue.

When attempting to install the Cash App Afterpay app in your Shopify store, a 404 error can occur for several reasons, often related to issues with the installation process, permissions, or specific configuration errors. Please review the Action section.

  1. Cash App Afterpay App Configuration Errors
    1. Cause: If there’s an issue with your Cash App Afterpay merchant account, it could affect the installation process. For example, your Cash App Afterpay account might not be fully activated, or there may be an issue with your Cash App Afterpay credentials.
    2. Solution: Ensure that your Cash App Afterpay merchant account is active and that you have the correct Cash App Afterpay credentials (Merchant ID and Secret Key) to connect with Shopify.
      1. Within your Shopify Admin Panel, go to Settings > Payments > Cash App Afterpay (If you do not see Cash App Afterpay, then select + Add payment method).
      2. Click the More Actions button and then select Manage button (If you selected + Add payment method previously, then click Search by provider, look for and select Cash App Afterpay (New) and then press the Install button).
      3. These steps will lead you to a Cash App Afterpay login screen, which will allow you to update/activate the Cash App Afterpay payment method with your Merchant ID and Secret Key.

  2. Cache and Browser Issues
    1. Cause: Sometimes, browser caching or stored cookies can cause a 404 error when trying to install the app. If there are issues with your browser’s cache, it may try to load an outdated or broken page.
