Afterpay App Configuration Errors
Cause: If there’s an issue with your Afterpay merchant account, it could be the reason as to why Afterpay as a payment method is not appearing in checkout. For example, your Afterpay account might not be fully activated or there may be an issue with your Afterpay credentials.
Solution: Ensure that your Afterpay merchant account is active and that you have the correct Afterpay credentials (Merchant ID and Secret Key) to connect with Shopify.
Steps to resolve the error:
Step 1: Within your Shopify Admin Panel, go to Settings > Payments > Afterpay (If you do not see Afterpay, then select + Add payment method).
Step 2: Click the More Actions button and then select Manage button (if you selected ‘Add payment method’ previously, click Search by provider, search for and select ‘Afterpay’ and then press install).
These steps will lead you to the Afterpay login screen, which will allow you to update/activate the Afterpay payment method with your Merchant ID and Secret Key.
Inconsistent Currency Display
Cause: A common cause for Afterpay as a payment method not appearing at checkout is because your Shopify stores base currency may differ from the corresponding Afterpay account region, which can only be set to Australia or New Zealand.
Solution: Your Shopify store’s address and currency must correspond to your store's physical location. Please refer to the Store Address and Store Currency steps to ensure they are configured correctly.
Important Notes:
Afterpay is available for Shopify merchants with a store address in Australia or New Zealand only.
