Afterpay Card transactions process on your eftpos like any other eftpos card. This means the full funds of the sale are included in your EFTPOS settlement, less any EFTPOS vendore fees. Afterpay does not directly settle to you via your nominated bank details. Afterpay provides a detailed Reconciliation file that provides line item information on card payments that were captured by your acquirer daily. This can be downloaded by every Afterpay retailer from the Afterpay Business Hub. The data is provided in CSV format. Log on to the Afterpay Merchant Portal and, select the Reconciliation section, and click into the Afterpay Card tab.
The associated Afterpay merchant fee (invoice reconciliation) is then direct-debited from your nominated bank details 1-4 business days after the sale.
Identifying Afterpay Fees:
With your bank, our debit of fees appear as AFTERPAY AUSTRAL (AU), AFTERPAY NZ Limited (NZ).
A payment reference is also included in the debit. Below is an example of what the reference number includes:
Example Reference# 202403120000012345
- The date of the fee/reconciliation - 202403120000012345
The date in the reference number is read as Year 2024, Month 03 (March) and Date 12.
- Following the date will be your unique Afterpay Merchant ID - 202403120000012345
